This custom CNC machined internal expansion collet is designed for holding thin wall stainless steel tubes during secondary turning, end facing and internal boring operations. The slotted nose expands against the inside wall of the workpiece, helping distribute the holding force over the contact area instead of concentrating it on the outside diameter.
The stainless steel grade and heat treatment should be selected according to the required expansion force, wear resistance and machine setup. The collet must be matched to the workpiece inside diameter, tube wall thickness and the taper of the expansion mandrel.
Before production, confirm the tube material, minimum and maximum inside diameter, required clamping range, slot dimensions and allowable workpiece deformation. Bore size, slot symmetry and concentricity should be inspected to help maintain repeatable clamping during production.
