These nuts feature internal threads that allow connection with matching bolts. For example, an M4-P0.7 nut connects with M4-P0.7 bolts (M4 indicates ~4mm inner diameter, 0.7 indicates 0.7mm thread pitch). Similarly, 1/4-20 nuts match with 1/4-20 screws (0.25" inner diameter, 20 threads per inch).
