Hexagonal nuts are used in conjunction with screws and bolts to connect and fasten machine parts. The most widely used type is the 1-type six nuts, with C nuts used for applications where surface roughness and precision requirements are not critical. A and B nuts are used for more polished surfaces and higher precision requirements.
Type 2 hexagonal nuts are thicker and often used for applications requiring frequent assembly and disassembly. Thin hexagonal nuts are used where space is limited on the connected machine parts.
Hexagonal nuts are categorized by nominal thickness into Type I, Type II, and thin types. The design of hexagonal nuts provides excellent torque transmission capacity and can withstand large axial and radial loads.
The 3/8 and 1/2-inch ASTM A193 A194 heavy-duty hex nuts are made from high-strength alloy steels (B7 and B8) offering exceptional tensile strength and fatigue resistance. These materials perform well under extreme pressures and high temperatures, making them ideal for oil/gas industries and high-performance engineering.
Commonly used in power plants, refineries, petrochemical industries, and natural gas infrastructure. B7 steel is ideal for high-pressure, high-temperature environments, while B8 stainless steel is preferred where corrosion resistance is crucial.
