What is a standoff? As the name suggests, the standoff is a screw with internal thread at one end and external thread at the other end, and the broad sense of the standoff also includes screws with internal threads at both ends. All these extra elements in stainless steel add to the cost compared to carbon steel. On the other hand, carbon steel consists mainly of relatively cheaper elements of iron and carbon.
