A standoff is a specialized fastener featuring internal threads at one end and external threads at the other. The hexagonal design serves dual purposes of fastening and isolation. Commonly manufactured from hexagonal copper rods, these components are also referred to as copper columns, hexagonal copper columns, or isolation spacers.
These standoffs are extensively used in computer hardware, circuit boards, and electronic assemblies. When installed, one end secures to the mounting surface while the exposed hexagonal column provides spacing or additional mounting points for other components.
Constructed from premium brass alloys (H59, H62, H65, H68, H70) offering excellent mechanical properties and corrosion resistance. Brass composition varies from α-phase (zinc below 35%) to β-phase (zinc above 46%) structures, each providing distinct performance characteristics.
