Stainless Steel Step Bolts with shoulder design are specialized fasteners used extensively in engineering and manufacturing applications. These bolts feature a stepped, cylindrical shoulder beneath the bolt head, providing distinct advantages over standard bolts.

When using self-tapping screws, seizing is an unavoidable occurrence. This is because self-tapping screws possess excellent corrosion resistance. However, when their surface becomes damaged, a protective layer forms on the metal surface to prevent further corrosion. When stainless steel fasteners seize, the pressure and heat generated between the threads cause this protective layer to lose its effectiveness. This leads to blockage between the threads, gradually resulting in the seizing phenomenon. So how can we prevent or minimise this occurrence?
Selecting the correct product
1. Before using self-tapping screws, verify that their mechanical properties meet your requirements, such as tensile strength and the guaranteed load capacity of the nut. Confirm the screw dimensions accurately; ideally, approximately two threads should remain exposed after tightening.
2. Verify that the threads are in good condition using a go/no-go gauge. Ensure the threaded surfaces remain clean and free of contaminants, as foreign matter may contribute to seizing.
3. Apply lubrication to the self-tapping screws prior to use. This significantly enhances resistance to seizing.
