This equipment finds extensive deployment across equipment fabrication sectors covering pressure vessel, boiler, shipbuilding, large formwork, general machinery, steel structure, electric power and chemical industries. It excels notably in face milling operations on special alloy sheets and emerging engineering materials, alongside pre-weld edge preparation for metal plates.

Structural Features:
1. The machine base is fabricated from premium carbon steel sheets via integrated seamless welding alongside optimized structural arrangement. Such construction delivers outstanding structural integrity and superior stiffness while facilitating convenient site transit. Moreover, the base receives integral stress-relief aging processing to thoroughly release inherent internal residual stress. Adopting an overhanging framework fitted with parallel vertical guideways, the machined base forms a unified datum plane. This structural configuration secures superior cutting linearity in practical machining; by contrast, conventional hybrid base-and-overhang layouts contain dual datum planes and cannot match such precision stability.
2. Workpiece clamping on the workbench relies on electromagnetic magnetic chucks for straightforward operational handling and abundant mounting allowance. Every individual chuck features dimensional specifications of 220mm × 400mm (width × length), and six units are longitudinally spaced on the bench to shorten the effective magnetic pull span of the work surface.

3. Sectional Full-Hardened Guideways (Premium Standard Configuration)
Specification of guideway: 40×80×600mm; base material: 40CrMo alloy steel. Components are subject to integral quenching and tempering followed by high-frequency surface hardening, achieving a hardness ranging from HRC48 to HRC50, and finish precision grinding enables precise sectional assembly. These guide rails are detachable after prolonged operational service for maintenance or component renewal to recover machining precision and prolong overall equipment service life, with permissible straightness tolerance controlled within 0.40mm per 3000mm.
4. Elevation Pillar Assembly
The pillar assembly is fastened onto the sliding saddle via bolted connections. Fabricated from high-tensile HT-250 grey cast iron through monolithic casting and subsequent precision machining, the sliding saddle executes transverse traversal along the machine base guideways, whereas the pillar performs longitudinal movement perpendicular to the base frame. The elevation lead screw mounted on the pillar is powered by a motor matched with a reduction gearbox to realize automatic vertical travel, with manual lifting function retained as an alternative. Upper and lower travel limit sensors are fitted on the elevation pillar to restrict overtravel of the cutting power unit arising from operational misoperation, effectively eliminating potential safety hazards.

5. The milling spindle unit adopts premium in-house produced cutter head customized exclusively for plate edge milling equipment, a mature proprietary component developed and manufactured autonomously by our enterprise. This spindle assembly is affixed to the vertical lifting carriage at the pillar’s left flank and performs motor-driven vertical displacement synchronized with the pillar’s elevation lead screw. Fine positioning relies on manual trimming to secure operational safety and precision during cutter setting procedures. The carriage-mounted worm shaft permits angular deflection relative to the horizontal datum, facilitating end-face and chamfer machining for top surfaces within 0°–85° and bottom surfaces ranging from 0° to −45°. Continuously variable milling feed rates are available to accommodate arbitrary cutting speeds and rapid retraction, complemented with a reversible reciprocating cutting capability.
6. The powered travelling bogie is engineered as a customized oversized standalone module. Gear sets and reduction assemblies are fitted onto the main carriage, where pinion gears engage with rack teeth fixed alongside guideways. Driving power is supplied by an inverter-duty electric motor paired with a low-noise, high-output hardened helical parallel-shaft gear reducer. The matching inverter, governed by dedicated control circuitry, delivers stepless variable speed for the travelling system. Real-time numerical readouts for traverse and cutting velocities are presented on the operator panel’s digital monitor to deliver expedient, high-productivity operation. The equipment is equipped with two individual drive bogies supporting separate or synchronous coordinated control, plus built-in anti-collision safety fixtures installed between the two carriages.

7. Milling Cutter Assembly: The machine is equipped with domestically sourced premium cutter heads complying with prevailing national industrial specifications for edge milling equipment. In response to client-specific processing demands for Q345D high tensile steel sheets, a 75° heavy-duty cutter head ranging from Φ125 mm to Φ160 mm is configured. This structural design minimizes cutting contact area, controls cutting heat buildup and alleviates premature cutter abrasion, with compatibility reserved for YW grade cemented carbide inserts.

8. Electrical Control Cabinets: Two independent electrical control cabinets are configured for the unit. The first cabinet is secured onto the right-side upright of the machine base, tasked with overall power distribution management. The second cabinet is rigidly fitted onto the powered travelling carriages. The human-machine control panel is mounted on the pillar adjacent to the operation zone. Operators may initiate regular milling cycles by activating corresponding functional buttons on the panel. Digital readouts integrated into the control console intuitively indicate travelling velocity and spindle rotational speed of the milling power unit.
