What is aging of aluminum alloy?
Generally speaking, the increase of hardness in the initial aging is due to the gradual precipitation of precipitates, the volume ratio gradually increases, and the spacing of the precipitates is smaller; in the higher aging, the precipitates show a better distribution state, that is, the resistance to the differential row is larger; the formation of over-aging is due to the roughening of the precipitates, which results in the increase of the radius of the precipitates, the decrease in the number of precipitates, and the spacing of precipitates increases; based on the aforementioned strengthening mechanism, it can be seen that the roughening reduces the resistance to the differential row.According to the strengthening mechanism mentioned above, it can be seen that coarsening reduces the resistance to the differential rows and decreases the hardness.
 

2,Applications:

Aluminum alloys can be divided into work-hardening (non-heat-treatable) alloys and precipitation-hardening alloys.The former is applicable to 1000, 3000 and 5000 series aluminum alloys, while the latter is applied to 2000, 6000 and 7000 series high-strength aluminum alloys.Among them, precipitation-hardening alloys can be used in a wide range of applications because they can be used under different heat treatment conditions to select the required mechanical properties.
