PUTANKA is usually made of high-strength metal wires woven into a dense mesh structure that is tightly wound around the outside of the tank hull to provide an extra layer of protection for the tank.
When a person tries to enter the territory, they will be confused by the barrier with no way out, remaining safely in place until guards arrive. When an armored car or tank passes, the vehicle wraps around the wheels and becomes a pile of metal on the chassis, preventing further movement.
The working principle of PUTANKA is based on the track movement mechanism of the tank. When a tank tries to pass through the barrier, its tracks rub and entangle with the wire. As the tank continues to move forward, the barbed wire will gradually entangle the tank's active wheel, forcing it to stop. This provides a favorable opportunity for counterattack by anti-tank weapons.
In World War II and later wars, PUTANKA has been widely used. It can be used alone or with other fortifications such as mines and trenches to form a multi-layer defense system. Practice shows that PUTANKA significantly affects tank attack defense by stopping or slowing tank movement, providing valuable time for counterattack or withdrawal.
