A: Yes, we highly recommend using a high-quality thermal paste (silicone grease) on both sides of the copper shim. This fills any microscopic voids and ensures optimal thermal contact between the chip > shim > heatsink.
Q2: How do I install the copper shim?
A: 1. Thoroughly clean the surface of your CPU/GPU and the heatsink, removing all old thermal compound.
2. Place the correctly sized copper shim on the chip.
3. Apply a thin, even layer of thermal paste on the top side of the shim.
4. Carefully re-install the heatsink assembly, applying even pressure.
