1. Lubricating oil:Polyisobutylene has good shear stability, appropriate oxidation stability and excellent high-temperature detergency. It can firmly adhere to the metal surface, reduce the coefficient of friction, improve lubrication under extreme conditions, and protect the metal surface from corrosion. Polyisobutylene can increase the thickness and strength of the oil film, absorb impact loads, reduce gear noise, and has a significant shock absorption effect.
2. Low-temperature hydraulic oil:Polyisobutylene with a molecular weight of around 1000 can be used to increase the viscosity index of mineral oil and produce low-temperature hydraulic oil, especially HV hydraulic oil. Its viscosity-temperature characteristics, oxidation stability, shear stability, hydrolysis stability and other properties are extremely excellent.
3. Viscosity enhancer: Polyisobutylene is a commonly used viscosity enhancer in the formulation of gear oils. When combined with suitable base oils, it can be used to formulate various grades of vehicle gear oils and industrial gear oils.
4. Solid lubricant:Polyisobutylene can be used as a carrier for solid lubricants such as graphite, mica, molybdenum disulfide, etc. Polyisobutylene completely vaporizes at 315℃, evenly covering the bearing with a layer of solid lubricant. Lubrication of ovens, bearings, conveyor chains and sprocket teeth is a typical application of this type.
5. Special industrial oils::They can be easily transformed into colloids by adding metal soaps such as stearates of calcium, aluminum and lithium. Oils based on polyisobutylene are colorless, can be used over a wide temperature range, and have good water resistance and shear resistance.
6. Lubrication-coolant: The unique lubricant property of polyisobutylene that leaves no residue after decomposition makes it a promising lubricant and coolant in quenching oil, aluminum and copper rolling and rolling operations. On the one hand, it can avoid the decontamination operation before either annealing or heat treatment; on the other hand, it can co-deposit and plasticize with viscous films. Polybutene can be used alone, or it can be made into an emulsion or combined with mineral oil.
