1. Raw materials for oil additives:The polyisobutylene molecule has a double bond at the α or β position, and its derivatives can be obtained through the same reaction as A-olefins. It is the main raw material for the production of lubricating oil detergents, dispersants and rust inhibitors.
2. Synthetic oil components::Polyisobutylene can be mixed with polyethylsiloxane in any proportion to form a transparent mixture. This mixed liquid has excellent thermal oxidation stability and shear stability. Its low-temperature fluidity and viscosity index both perform well, making it a base oil with superior performance.
3. Two-stroke engine oil::Two-stroke engine oil, which is made by using polyisobutylene with a molecular weight of around 950 and 2200 in combination, not only has excellent lubricating performance but also can significantly reduce smoke emissions, decrease carbon deposits, lower corrosion, and clean combustion. Therefore, it is widely used in the production of two-stroke oil for motorcycles, chain saws, small boats, etc. This is a standard practice for environmental protection in developed countries.
4. Asphalt modification: When 5% to 10% polyisobutylene is added to air-rolled asphalt, it can enhance the adhesion and low-temperature flexibility of the asphalt. This technology has been widely applied abroad, and research institutions in our country have also begun to develop it.
5. Release agent::Polyisobutylene can be used as a release agent for various plastics, such as acrylate. Polyisobutylene possesses a variety of advantages that a good mold release agent should have. High-viscosity grade polyisobutylene tends to remain in the mold and is not prone to react with polymers. If the mold is painted, the polyisobutylene film does not affect the adhesion of the solvent-containing paint.
