Product Overview

The hydrocyclone is the core classification and concentration component of the XY Series Dewatering and Fine Sand Recovery Integrated Machine, responsible for the critical task of efficiently separating fine sand from slurry. In the sand washing process, a significant amount of fine sand is lost with wastewater, resulting not only in resource waste but also increasing the burden of tailings treatment. The hydrocyclone utilizes the principle of centrifugal force field to separate fine sand from slurry efficiently. Slurry is fed tangentially into the hydrocyclone under pressure, and under the centrifugal force generated by high-speed rotation, fine sand particles are thrown toward the vessel wall and move downward to form the underflow discharge, while mud and fine particles are discharged from the overflow outlet at the top, achieving efficient recovery of fine sand and solid-liquid separation. Working Principle & Design Features

The working principle of the hydrocyclone is based on the combined effects of centrifugal settling and gravity settling. Slurry enters the cylindrical section of the hydrocyclone tangentially under pressure and forms a high-speed rotating vortex constrained by the vessel wall. Within this powerful centrifugal force field, the centrifugal force acting on solid particles far exceeds gravity and fluid resistance. Coarse and heavy particles are rapidly thrown toward the vessel wall and move downward in a spiral trajectory, eventually discharging from the underflow outlet at the bottom as a high-concentration underflow stream. Fine particles and the majority of water, experiencing relatively lower centrifugal force, migrate toward the low-pressure zone at the center, forming an upward inner vortex that discharges from the overflow pipe at the top. This simple yet highly efficient separation mechanism enables the hydrocyclone to achieve continuous and stable classification without any moving parts.

The hydrocyclone features a compact and straightforward design consisting of the feed inlet, cylindrical section, conical section, overflow pipe, and underflow nozzle. The geometric dimensions and angles of each component are precisely calculated and optimally matched to ensure the equipment achieves the best separation performance under specific material conditions. The carefully designed cone angle enables the formation of a stable flow field within the vessel, effectively avoiding turbulent interference and short-circuiting, thereby ensuring classification accuracy and separation efficiency.
