1525-1570nm MEMS Variable Optical Attenuator Single Channel Standard FC/UPC
The MEMS Variable Optical Attenuator is based on Micro-Electro-Mechanical System technology. These MM series attenuators enable remote power control in networks using a MEMS chip with a movable silicon mirror. The mirror attenuates laser light power by coupling the input beam onto the output fiber, with applied voltage controlling the mirror tilt angle for precise attenuation.

Advanced MEMS Technology to Balance Signal Strengths
A beam from an input fiber bounces off the MEMS mirror and into an output fiber. By slightly tilting the mirror, the input and output fibers are decoupled and the signal is attenuated.
Applications
The MEMS VOA can be used for equalization in DWDM systems, gain tilt control in EDFAs, and is also applied in test equipment.
