Product Overview

The ABB AX18-30-10-85 is a modular AC contactor in the ABB AX series, designed for high cost-performance industrial control scenarios. This product is specially designed for frequently started and stopped small and medium-sized three-phase motors, lighting circuits and heating equipment. With its compact structure, low-power DC coil and excellent electrical life, it has become an ideal choice in modern automation systems.

This model has a rated working current of 18 amperes (AC-3 category, under 400V conditions), is equipped with three sets of main contacts, and has no auxiliary contacts. The control coil voltage is 24V DC (DC 24V), and it is suitable for direct interface with PLC, relay modules or low-voltage control systems.

Thanks to ABB's EcoCoil™ energy-saving technology, the DC coil of this contactor consumes only about 5 watts of power during the engagement stage. After entering the holding state, the power consumption drops to around 1.2 watts, significantly reducing the energy consumption of the control circuit, while also reducing heat generation and improving the overall energy efficiency of the system. This low-power consumption feature is particularly suitable for remote control sites powered by batteries, UPS or small power modules.

Installation and Usage instructions

When installing, please firmly clamp the contactor into the standard DIN rail and ensure that the locking mechanisms on both sides are fully engaged. The main circuit terminals support hard or flexible wires ranging from 1.5 to 4 square millimeters. It is recommended to use a wiring method with cold-pressed terminals to ensure long-term connection reliability. When wiring the control circuit, pay attention to the polarity: A1 should be connected to the positive pole (+24V DC), and A2 to the negative pole (0V). Reverse connection may cause a decline in coil performance or damage.

To achieve complete motor protection functions, it is strongly recommended to combine AX18-30-10-85 with ABB TA series thermal overload relays to form a standard direct Starter (DOL Starter), providing multiple protections such as overload and phase loss.
