Product Overview
The ABB AI815 is a high-density 16-channel analog input module in the AC 800M distributed control system, specifically designed for the acquisition of 4–20 mA signals in industrial process automation. This module features tool-free spring terminal connection technology, significantly enhancing on-site wiring efficiency and reliability. It natively supports transparent HART digital communication, allowing diagnostic and configuration data from smart transmitters to be directly transmitted to the upper-level system (such as System 800xA Asset Optimizer).

Installation and Usage instructions
Hardware installation
Insert AI815 into the S800 I/O electronic frame (such as TB840A/TB842A);
Ensure correct connection with the CI854A (optical fiber) or CI801 (electrical) communication module;
Crimping the 4-20mA signal line on site with spring terminals (shielded twisted pair is recommended).
Software configuration
Add the AI815 device in Control Builder M;
Automatically identify the number of channels and HART capability;
Configure the measurement range, engineering unit, and alarm limit value;
Enable HART variable mapping (such as the main variable PV, device status).
Debugging and verification
The green LED on the front panel indicates that the module is operating normally.
A red LED flashing indicates a channel fault (such as a disconnection);
View real-time values and HART diagnostic data through the System 800xA screen or Asset Optimizer.
