1.Overview of the EL6731 Beckhoff
The Beckhoff EL6731 is a high-performance PROFIBUS DP master/slave terminal module designed for industrial automation. It seamlessly integrates with upper-level control systems via EtherCAT bus. This module does not require a PCI slot in a PC and can be directly mounted on a standard DIN rail, providing a flexible and space-saving PROFIBUS network solution.
The core functionality of the EL6731 is similar to a Beckhoff FC3101 PROFIBUS PCI card, but it connects via an EtherCAT terminal module system, eliminating the need for a dedicated PCI slot in the industrial PC and achieving a more space-efficient integration solution.
Protocol and Device Integration: This module can control the full PROFIBUS protocol and can integrate any PROFIBUS device in an EtherCAT terminal network.
High Performance and Precise Synchronization: Thanks to its internally developed PROFIBUS chip, the EL6731 features high-precision isochronous synchronization, particularly suitable for axis control, and provides extended diagnostic functions.
Flexible slave polling: A key feature is that it supports setting different polling rates for different slaves in the network, which enhances the flexibility of system configuration.
