1. Product Overview
The FPBA-01 is an ABB-certified rack-mount fieldbus adapter designed for the ACS355, ACS380, ACS480, ACS580, ACS850, ACS880, and ACSM1 series. The module plugs directly into the drive's option slot, requiring no external power supply. It enables millisecond-level data exchange with PLCs (S7-300/400/1200/1500, AC500, AC800M, etc.), supporting both PROFIdrive and ABB protocol stacks, delivering both versatility and high performance.
2. Key Features
- Complete protocol: DP-V0 cyclic data + DP-V1 aperiodic parameter channels, enabling simultaneous control and diagnostics over a single network cable
- Full message coverage: Automatically identifies PPO1…PPO8, Standard Telegram 1/2, and is compatible with mainstream configuration tools such as STEP 7, TIA Portal, and SYCON
- High-speed baud rate: 9.6 kbps…12 Mbps, with automatic detection and no relay required within 100 m
- Isolation design: Three-terminal isolation (power, bus, and drive), ±15 kV ESD protection, and IEC 61800-3 EMC certification
- Three LED diagnostics: Clearly display HOST/MODULE/NETWORK status and support remote fault notification
- Industrial-grade temperature resistance: -20…+60°C, IP20 protection, and an altitude of 2,000 m No derating required, suitable for demanding applications such as plastics, textiles, water, logistics, and food and beverage.

Interface: 9-pin D-Sub (RS-485), built-in 220 Ω termination resistor, software-switchable.
Power: Powered by the drive's internal +3.3 V bus, typical 450 mA, no additional wiring required.

Lifespan: >100,000 hours (continuous operation at 40°C ambient temperature).
4. Installation and Commissioning (3-step online operation)
① Turn off power → Insert module → Tighten two screws → Close cover.
② Switch the bus start and end nodes to ON, and the middle node to OFF; connect using shielded twisted pair cable.
③ Import the ABB GSD file (ABB_0812.GSD) into the PLC, select the PPO type, download the hardware configuration → Restart → Communication is successful if the green light remains on.

- Conveying and Sorting: S7-1500 + ACS580 collaboration, 50-axis synchronous positioning error < ±0.5 mm
- Constant Pressure Water Supply: AC500-eCo reads ACS880 outlet pressure in real time via DP-V1, saving 18% energy
- Wind Turbine Yaw: ACSM1 servo connected to PROFIBUS via FPBA-01, achieving 0.1° yaw accuracy and stable operation at -30°C
