Yokogawa SNT401-13 Optical ESB Bus Repeater Module
The Optical ESB Bus Repeater Module converts standard ESB Bus signals—which interconnect the Safety Control Unit, Safety Node Unit, and N-IO Node—into optical signals. This conversion enables extended transmission distances without signal degradation. By utilizing optical fiber connections between modules, the communication range of the ESB Bus can be significantly increased.

Optical ESB Bus Repeater Module dimensional tolerances
Nominal Tolerances
When the reference dimension is over 0.5 mm and equal or less than 120 mm, its nominal tolerance is ± 0.8 mm, while its combination of nominal tolerance is ± 1.5 mm. When the reference dimension is over 120 mm, its nominal tolerance is in accordance with JEM 1459.

The Optical ESB Bus Repeater Module supports flexible connection topologies to accommodate various industrial and safety system layouts. Two primary connection structures are commonly used: Chain Type and Star Type.
Chain Type Connection
For chain type configurations, there are two main approaches:
  • Direct Mounting: Optical modules are installed directly on the Safety Control Unit and Safety Node Unit.
  • Dedicated Mounting: Optical modules are installed on the dedicated SNT10D Unit (Unit for Optical Bus Repeater Module).
These two approaches can also be combined within the same chain, offering flexibility in system design while maintaining reliable ESB Bus communication over extended distances.
