The RTD module receives and stores digitally converted analog data from RTDs or other resistance inputs such as potentiometers into its image table for retrieval by all fixed and modular SLC 500 processors. An RTD consists of a temperature-sensing element connected by 2, 3, or 4 wires that provide input to the RTD module.

Module Specifications
The module supports various RTD types with associated temperature ranges and analog input signal ranges. See input specifications for detailed technical parameters.
The module status LED shows diagnostic or operating errors related to the module. These non-recoverable errors may be detected during power-up or during operation. Once an error has been detected, the module no longer communicates with the SLC processor. Channel states are disabled, and data words are cleared (0).
Step 1: Align Module - Align the RTD module circuit board with the top and bottom card guides of the chassis. Ensure proper orientation.
Step 2: Insert Module - Slide the module into the chassis until the top and bottom retaining clips engage. Apply firm, even pressure to seat the module on the backplane connector. Do not force the module.
Step 3: Install Slot Filler - Cover all unused slots with a Card Slot Filler (Catalog Number 1746-N2) to maintain chassis protection.
