Before installation of Bently Nevada 330101-30-63-15-02-CN, the main thing is just making sure the housing and probe geometry actually match. This version comes with a 6.3-inch case length and 3.0-inch unthreaded section, so in most machines the clearance is fine as long as the mounting port isn’t too shallow. Usually we still leave some margin—about 3.3 inches here works in typical setups.
One more practical point: keep at least 38 mm spacing from nearby sensors, otherwise cross-talk can show up. Shaft diameter also shouldn’t be too small; anything above 50.8 mm (2.0 in) is generally the safe range.
This probe follows API 670, so behavior is pretty standard in turbine systems. The linear range is around 2.0 mm (80 mils), with scale factor at 7.87 V/mm (200 mV/mil) ±5%. Signal bandwidth goes up to about 10 kHz, which is enough for most vibration and shaft monitoring work.
In normal installation, the gap ends up close to 1.27 mm (50 mils), giving around -9 Vdc bias level when set correctly.
Nothing complicated, but a few things matter on site. Connector torque should stay below 0.565 N·m (5 in·lbf)—people sometimes overtighten it and that’s where issues start.
Cable can handle short pulls up to 330 N (75 lbf), but it’s not meant to be abused repeatedly. And for routing, keep bend radius above 25.4 mm (1 inch), otherwise the cable life drops faster than expected.
Yes, it is usually plug-compatible within the 3300 XL ecosystem. It works with standard 3300 XL extension cables and Proximitor sensors, so most existing TSI / Machinery Protection System setups don’t need rewiring.
