In real turbine or compressor setups with strong EMI, this 330130-045-01-05 cable is mainly there to keep the 3300 XL probe signal usable by the Proximitor. Without good shielding, you get noise or unstable vibration readings.
It uses a 75-ohm triaxial structure with high shielding (around 85 dB), so the signal stays clean enough for systems like 3500/40M monitors. Basically helps avoid weird spikes or false trips caused by interference.
On turbine decks, cables get abused more than expected—mechanical stress, oil, sometimes sharp bends during maintenance.
The armored version holds up better. Stainless steel mesh gives it higher physical resistance (around 270 N tensile strength), so it doesn’t get cut or crushed easily. The jacket also handles turbine oil and heat cycles in the -52°C to +177°C range.
Most people just start with DC resistance check. You should see about 0.99 Ω ±0.15 Ω. If it goes open or jumps high, usually it’s connector damage or internal break.
Capacitance check is sometimes used, but honestly resistance test is what gets used first on site.
