This module is relevant when a SIMATIC S7-300 installation requires additional expansion racks. During maintenance, engineers may look for it when the connection between the central rack and an expansion rack is suspected of causing a rack communication or module availability problem.
A fault in the rack interface path may prevent affected expansion-rack I/O or installed modules from operating as expected, potentially interrupting machine sequences or production. Confirm the fault location before replacing the module.
