The 31000/32000 housing family provides a mounting arrangement for proximity probes passing through machine casings. It is commonly used for radial vibration and Keyphasor measurements. The external-access design allows probe-gap adjustment and probe replacement without disassembling the machine.

The 31000/32000 housing family is stated by the manufacturer to comply with API 670 for externally mounted proximity probe housings. The housing is not explosion-proof. Intrinsically safe hazardous-area use requires an approved transducer system and appropriate barriers.
APPLICATION
Application & Failure Scenarios
Designed for installations where a proximity probe passes through a machine casing, including radial shaft-vibration and Keyphasor measurement points. External access supports adjustment and replacement of the installed probe.
Housing or fitting damage
Inspect the housing and fittings when physical damage, compromised mounting or loss of intended environmental protection is suspected.
Probe adjustment or replacement
The assembly provides external access when the probe gap needs adjustment or the probe needs replacement.
Abnormal monitoring readings
Check the probe, cable, mounting and monitoring chain before attributing an abnormal vibration reading or alarm to the housing.
A housing issue may affect monitoring-point reliability, but it does not by itself establish the cause of a machine trip or vibration alarm.
