DMPAT can be used as an important intermediate in the synthesis of many drugs, such as β Receptor blockers, calcium antagonists, anticancer drugs, etc. It can be synthesized through a variety of chemical reactions, such as the reaction of p-toluenesulfonic imide with acetylacetone using sodium bisulfite as the reducing agent.
In addition, DMPAT is also a chiral compound that can be used as a chiral inducer in organic synthesis. For example, it can serve as a chiral inducer to catalyze the asymmetric corresponding reaction of aldehydes and imines, forming chiral compounds β- Amino aldehyde.
