The Yaskawa GA50UB006ABA is a GA500 variable frequency drive designed for a 200 to 240 VAC single-phase input supply while controlling a compatible three-phase motor. It provides a 1.5 HP or 1.1 kW Normal Duty rating with 6.0 A output current and a 1 HP or 0.75 kW Heavy Duty rating with 5.0 A output current.
The single-phase input is the main distinction between GA50UB006ABA and GA50U2006ABA. Their output ratings are similar, but the input power requirements are different. The complete model and input phase must therefore be checked carefully during replacement.
This model is useful for smaller machines where only 240 V single-phase power is available but variable-speed control of a three-phase motor is required. It is not intended to operate a single-phase capacitor motor. The output is designed for a compatible three-phase industrial motor.
Normal Duty permits up to 6 A output for moderate-overload applications. Heavy Duty uses a 5 A output limit for applications that require increased overload capability. The connected motor current must remain within the selected duty rating.
The GA500 platform supports V/f and open-loop vector control for compatible induction motors, together with supported permanent-magnet motor operation. Open-loop vector control can improve low-speed torque and speed stability when motor parameters and autotuning are correctly configured.
Enter motor data from the actual three-phase motor nameplate. Do not use input-line current as the motor rating reference. Motor voltage, current, frequency, speed and power must correspond to the motor connected to the drive output.
Programmable digital and analog functions support external run commands, frequency references, interlocks and operating-status signals. Embedded RS-485 provides MEMOBUS/Modbus RTU communication. Additional industrial protocols require compatible GA500 network options.
Safe Torque Off is rated SIL3 under IEC 62061 and PLe under ISO 13849-1 when used within a correctly designed safety circuit. STO disables torque-producing operation but does not isolate the single-phase input supply or remove voltage from the drive.

Applications include small workshop machines, conveyors, pumps, fans, packaging equipment and auxiliary automation systems supplied from single-phase power. The incoming circuit must be sized for the drive input current rather than only the motor output current.
An external braking resistor can be connected through the built-in braking transistor when rapid stopping is required. Resistance, power and duty cycle must be selected for the actual regenerative load.
Confirm that the site provides 200 to 240 VAC single-phase power. Install the IP20 drive in a ventilated cabinet and provide appropriate upstream protection, cable sizing and grounding. Input current may be significantly higher than motor output current because power is supplied through a single-phase circuit.
GA50UB004ABA is the adjacent lower single-phase-input model. GA50UB010ABA provides 9.6 A Normal Duty and 8 A Heavy Duty output. GA50U2006ABA has similar output ratings but requires a three-phase input supply.
