Process Introduction
Higher basis weight requires increased fiber furnish and slightly higher beating degree (30‑35°SR) to maintain strength. The pulp blend may include 5‑10% hardwood for better formation. The wire and press sections are run at slower speed to ensure uniform stripe formation at higher thickness. Single‑cylinder drying at 105‑115°C maintains moisture at 8‑10% to prevent brittleness. Optional surface sizing with PVA for enhanced water resistance.
