Base paper from 70% softwood + 30% hardwood, beaten to 76‑78°SR. Formed, pressed, pre‑dried. A specially formulated microwave‑stable modified starch coating (solid 12‑15%) is applied via metering rod at 1.5‑2.0 g/m². Post‑drying at 90‑110°C avoids over‑curing that could cause sparking. Soft calendering provides smoothness without excessive densification, preserving microwave compatibility. Finished paper tested for microwave safety (no arcing, no flame).
