Application:
The 2486A221 oil cooler is engineered for the Perkins T4.236, AT4.236 and 4.236 family of turbo-charged four-cylinder 4.0 L diesel engines, as well as the later 1004.4 and 1103 engine derivatives that share the same block architecture. It is widely fitted to Massey Ferguson 2600, 2700, 3600 and 6100 series tractors, MF 500, 700 and 800 range combines, Landini Rex and Legend tractors, JCB Loadall telehandlers, Caterpillar TH-series forklifts and mobile generator sets rated from 40 kVA to 110 kVA. Its usage therefore spans agricultural tractors, combine harvesters, forage harvesters, industrial loaders, lighting towers and stationary power units produced from the early 1990s through to the mid-2000s.
Technical specifications:
The cooler is an 11-plate, donut-type heat exchanger that locates in the 98.48 mm counterbore in the cylinder block. Plate stack outside diameter is 114 mm, overall height including sealing flange is 78 mm, and eleven stainless-steel plates deliver an oil-side heat-transfer area of 418 cm².
Material & performance features:
The plate pack is vacuum-brazed 304 stainless steel for maximum corrosion resistance against long-life coolants and aggressive agricultural chemicals. The outer shell is zinc-nickel passivated mild steel for additional salt-spray protection, while internal turbulator fins increase film coefficient by 15 % relative to earlier 9-plate designs, keeping oil pressure drop below 0.4 bar at 80 °C.
