Excavator Engine Lubricating Oil System Introduction

1. Lubricating oil can be called the blood necessary for the life of the engine. It acts as a bearing, coolant and cleaning agent.

2. Lubrication. Lubricants prevent or reduce wear by forming a thick film of oil between the surfaces of all operating engine parts. Here we see a very exaggerated oil film on the half bearing. In practice, the oil film between the bearing and shaft may be only three thousandths of an inch thick, but it is still enough to prevent surface contact between the shaft and bearing.

3. The lubricating oil also has a cooling effect, just like the water in the cooling system cools the outer wall of the cylinder liner, the lubricating oil cools the inner wall of the piston and the cylinder liner, and also cools the bearing.
