The MCP3425 is A single-channel low-noise, high-precision, differential input ΔΣ A/D converter in a small SOT-23-6 package, with a maximum resolution of 16 bits. The on-chip precision 2.048V reference voltage enables the differential input voltage range to be ±2.048V (Δ voltage = 4.096V). The device can use a 2-wire I2C-compatible serial interface and is powered by a single supply ranging from 2.7V to 5.5V. The user sets the controllable configuration bits through the 2-wire I2C serial interface, so that the MCP3425 device can perform conversion at a rate of 15, 60 or 240 samples per second (SPS). This device features an on-chip programmable gain amplifier (PGA), allowing users to select the PGA gain as x1, x2, x4 or x8 before the analog-to-digital conversion begins. This enables the MCP3425 device to convert smaller input signals at a higher resolution. This device has two conversion modes: (a) continuous conversion mode and (b) single conversion mode. In the single-conversion mode, the device automatically enters the low-current standby mode after one conversion, which can significantly reduce the current consumption during idle periods. The MCP3425 device can be used in various high-precision analog-to-digital data conversion applications that require simple design, low power consumption and small size.
