Most 4P nickel strip is stamped to a generic cell spacing and a generic width. It works for open-air layouts where you place cells by hand and weld them in free space. It fails when your pack uses a rigid plastic cell holder — because the holder dictates exactly where each cell sits, exactly how wide the connector bay is, and exactly how much tolerance the strip has before it rubs against the frame wall and shorts. DLX's 4P Ni200 strip is engineered specifically for holder-based 18650 assembly: 49.5mm overall width to fit standard 4P ABS frames, 19.5mm pitch to match the molded cell pockets, and burr-free slit edges that will not abrade the holder wall or the cell wrapper during insertion. 99.6% minimum nickel content, hydrogen-annealed to a bright finish, stamped on maintained progressive dies that hold the same geometry from the first connector to the ten-thousandth.

Standard 4P 18650 cell holders have an internal connector bay of approximately 50.0–51.0mm. A strip at 49.5mm ±0.1mm provides roughly 0.25–0.75mm clearance per side — enough for the strip to drop in without friction against the holder wall, but not so much that the strip can shift laterally and contact a cell can. If your holder's bay width differs from this standard, we can slit to your specification. Send us your holder drawing or a sample holder and we will confirm the correct width.
Yes. The 49.5mm width and 19.5mm pitch are compatible with both open-frame (lattice-type) and fully enclosed (box-type) 4P 18650 holders from major molders. For enclosed holders with top covers, the strip's burr-free edge is particularly important — a sharp edge inside a closed holder cavity can abrade the cover plastic over vibration cycles, generating debris inside the pack. DLX's < 0.01mm burr height eliminates this risk.
Holder-based welding typically requires the electrode to access the cell cap through an opening in the holder frame — often 6–8mm in diameter. The electrode must center within that port and deliver consistent energy despite the slight standoff created by the holder wall thickness. DLX's 90–120 HB soft-annealed strip welds reliably at 8–12 Ws through standard holder access ports. If your holder has unusually thick walls or narrow access ports, we recommend testing with a sample strip before committing to production quantities.
Yes. The same progressive die stamps N4, N6, Ni200, and Ni201 strip — the tooling is identical, only the input coil material changes. If your application requires higher purity (N4 at 99.9% for marine or medical enclosures) or low-carbon nickel (Ni201 for fast-charge thermal cycling), specify the grade at order. Lead time is the same; price varies by grade as shown in the table above.
We stock progressive dies for 18.5mm, 19.0mm, 19.5mm, 20.2mm, and 20.5mm pitch in 4P configuration. If your holder's pitch falls between our standard dies, our in-house Sodick EDM toolroom can cut a custom die within 10–12 working days.
