Hose Floats are external buoyancy units designed for flexible marine hoses and floating pipeline systems that require controlled flotation, mechanical support, and stable positioning on the water surface. They are commonly integrated with dredging discharge hoses, slurry transfer lines, reclamation pipelines, and temporary marine pipelines where the hose must remain partially above the water while retaining sufficient flexibility for movement.
A port development contractor in Indonesia required a temporary floating pipeline arrangement during the construction of a new deep-water terminal. The project involved hydraulic placement of dredged sediment from a large cutter suction dredger into a designated reclamation zone approximately several hundred meters offshore.
The contractor selected modular Hose Floats according to the discharge hose outside diameter and calculated operating load. Installation was performed by assembling the float sections around the hose at the temporary marine work area.
