Ceramic Hose is a heavy-duty composite conveying solution engineered for offshore dredging systems and marine slurry transport operations where high mechanical stress, abrasive sediment flow, and dynamic environmental loading conditions are present. The structure consists of a reinforced elastomer outer body, multi-layer tensile reinforcement architecture, and an internal ceramic wear-resistant lining system designed for continuous exposure to sand-rich and sediment-laden seawater mixtures.
The engineering principle of Ceramic Hose is based on structural reinforcement integration combined with high-abrasion surface protection. In dredging and offshore sediment transport systems, slurry typically contains sand, gravel, shell fragments, and seabed particulate matter transported under high hydraulic velocity. These materials generate continuous erosion and impact stress, especially in flexible pipeline segments exposed to wave motion, vessel movement, and pressure fluctuations.
Ceramic Hose mitigates these conditions through a ceramic-lined internal channel that resists abrasive particle impact while maintaining hydraulic flow stability. The reinforcement system is engineered to absorb multi-directional mechanical loads generated by offshore dynamic motion, including bending stress, torsional movement, and pressure pulsation.
The project was implemented in a large-scale offshore dredging operation located along the North Sea coastal infrastructure development zone in Norway. The operation involved continuous seabed excavation and sediment transport for port expansion and coastal reinforcement works.
The operational challenge was defined by highly variable mechanical loading conditions combined with abrasive sediment flow. Conventional marine hoses used in the system exhibited rapid degradation due to combined internal abrasion and external mechanical fatigue.
Ceramic Hose was deployed in critical high-wear sections of the dredging pipeline system, particularly in flexible connection zones between dredging pumps and discharge lines. Following deployment, the system demonstrated significantly improved resistance to abrasive sediment flow and mechanical fatigue, with extended maintenance intervals and increased dredging efficiency.
