Product Introduction:
The hydraulic Cathead is used together with the tongs to implement the make-up and break-out of the drill pipe and casing. The pulling force provided by ATO hydraulic cathead ensures premium and standard torque for drill pipe, drill collars, bit connection, or other applications.
The hydraulic cathead mostly consists of a control box and hydraulic cathead. This useful rig floor equipment provides smooth, adjustable make-up loads. Due to its hydraulic operation, the Hydraulic Cathead eliminates electrical hazards. The system can be powered by an independent hydraulic power unit or integrated into a centralized hydraulic power unit.
Working Principle:
With the hydraulic drive, the output torque can be adjusted conveniently according to the tubular diameter, with high working efficiency and safety.
The Hydraulic Cathead is installed on drill floor, normally as a backup to reduce NPT in case of Iron Roughneck failure. The wire is attached to the rig tongs to transfer the pull to make up or brake out the connection on tubulars. The wire pull (torque) can be pre-set from the operators cabin depending on make up torque and tong length.
Operating Mode:
The Hydraulic Cathead can be operated from:
√the drillers cabin
√a remote operated hydraulic control panel
√the directional control valve on the control stand
√a combination of these in accordance with clients request.
Types
They are divided into two types depending on structural features:

√Rotary cathead type
