Variable frequency screw air compressor is an energy-saving air compression equipment based on traditional screw air compressor, combined with frequency converter and permanent magnet synchronous motor (or asynchronous motor). The core is to match the actual gas consumption by adjusting the motor speed, and achieve on-demand gas supply. It is widely used in industries such as mechanical manufacturing, chemical industry, construction, electronics, etc. that require stable compressed air.
Core Working Principle
Traditional screw air compressors use power frequency motors with a fixed speed after starting (usually 1500r/min or 3000r/min). When the pressure in the air storage tank reaches its upper limit, the motor runs without load or frequently starts and stops, resulting in a large amount of energy waste. The variable frequency screw air compressor adjusts the motor speed by changing the power frequency of the input motor through the frequency converter
When the gas consumption is high, the frequency converter increases the frequency, the motor speed accelerates, and the gas production increases;
When the gas consumption is low, the frequency converter decreases, the motor speed slows down, and the gas production decreases;
When there is no demand for gas, the motor runs at low speed without load or stops, significantly reducing energy consumption
Advantages
The most prominent advantage of variable frequency air compressors is their significant energy-saving effect. According to the principles of fluid mechanics, the power of a motor is proportional to the third power of its rotational speed. If the rotational speed decreases by 10%, the power can be reduced by approximately 27%. In practical applications, compared to power frequency machines, the energy-saving rate of frequency converters is usually between 20% and 50%, especially suitable for working conditions with large fluctuations in gas consumption.
Stable operation and precise variable frequency pressure regulation can stabilize the exhaust pressure within ± 0.01MPa range, avoiding equipment failures caused by pressure fluctuations and improving the working accuracy of pneumatic equipment (such as pneumatic tools and precision instruments).
Extend equipment lifespan
Soft start design: The starting current is only 1-2 times the rated current, much lower than 5-7 times the power frequency machine, reducing the impact on the power grid and motor;
When running at low speeds, the wear, noise, and vibration of the host are reduced, extending the service life of core components such as screws and bearings.
Intelligent control, easy to operate equipped with PLC control system, can achieve automatic start stop, pressure setting, fault alarm, operation data monitoring (such as exhaust pressure, temperature, operation time), support remote monitoring and maintenance.

Selection parameters
Exhaust volume: Select based on the total gas consumption of the equipment, with a reserved margin of 10% -20%;
Exhaust pressure: match the rated pressure of the gas equipment (such as 0.7-0.8MPa for general operating conditions), excessive pressure will increase energy consumption;
Motor power: The higher the power, the higher the gas production, and it is necessary to avoid "big horses pulling small cars" based on actual needs.
Maintenance precautions
Regularly clean the cooling fan of the frequency converter to avoid triggering protection due to overheating;
Replace the air filter, oil filter, and lubricating oil according to the instructions, and keep the main engine clean;
When shutting down for a long time, it is necessary to drain the condensed water in the air storage tank to prevent rusting.
