3. How does the DR Pressure Control (Pressure Cut-Off) work?
The DR control maintains a constant system pressure by changing the swashplate angle. When the system pressure reaches the spring-set value on the DR valve, the control mechanism acts to reduce the pump's displacement, delivering only the flow required to maintain the set pressure. This functionality is sometimes referred to as "Pressure Cut-Off" in some pump literature. It's important to note that a system safety valve is still essential because the DR control's response is relatively slow compared to sudden pressure shocks; the safety valve handles transient pressure spikes.
4. What is the difference between DRG and DP control types?
Both DRG and DP are forms of constant pressure control, but they are designed for different appliions:
DRG (Remote Pressure Control): Allows the pressure setpoint for the pump to be adjusted remotely via an external pressure control valve.
DP (Multi-Pump Parallel Pressure Control): Specifically designed for systems where multiple pumps work in parallel. It contains an additional element (a variable orifice, valve 5) that mechanically links to the swangle. This design automatically compensates for differences between pumps, ensuring they share the load equally and operate at the same swashplate angle when working together at the set pressure. The DP control has a larger control deviation (~6.5 bar) compared to DRG (~3 bar).
5. Why might multiple A4VSO DR pumps in parallel cause system vibration?
When multiple pumps with standard DR controls are set to the same pressure and run in parallel, slight inherent differences in their response characteristics and pressure settings can cause them to not reduce displacement (cut off) at exactly the same time and rate. This lack of synchronization can lead to interactions between the pumps, resulting in pressure fluctuations and potentially causing severe pipeline vibration.
6. What are the key specifiions of the A4VSO series?
Bearing: Features a specially designed, long-life, high-precision full roller bearing.
Shaft: Through-shaft design allows for mounting additional pumps to form a multi-pump group.
7. What should be considered during commissioning and adjustment?
Alignment: Ensure the coupling between the pump and motor has a gap of 3-5 mm to avoid thrust load on the pump's bearing, which could cause damage.
Filling & Venting: Before starting, fill the pump casing with clean hydraulic fluid through the drain port to vent air. The drain line should be connected to the highest T port on the pump.
Rotation Direction: Confirm the pump's specified rotation direction (viewed from the shaft end) and ensure the motor rotation matches. Incorrect rotation can damage the pump.
Minimum Flow Setting: If the pump's minimum displacement is set too large, it may become impossible to lower the pressure setpoint by adjusting the control valve.
DP Control Setup: For DP controls, the pressure differential across the pump's DP valve is the sum of the pre-set pressure differential on valve 2 and the differential set on valve 5 (at minimum pump displacement), typically set to a standard sum of 33 bar.
