It is a 4/3-way directional control valve with an "E" spool configuration. The primary function is to control hydraulic actuators. The "E" spool features an open center: in the neutral (de-energized) position, the pressure port (P) is connected directly to the tank port (T), while both work ports (A & B) are blocked. This design allows the hydraulic pump to unload to tank with minimal pressure drop when the valve is in neutral, reducing energy consumption and heat generation.

The open center configuration (P connected to T in neutral) is highly energy-efficient. It allows the hydraulic pump to circulate fluid back to the tank with very low backpressure when no actuator movement is required.
