1. What does EO1 (electro‑proportional displacement) control do?
EO1 uses a built‑in proportional solenoid with LVDT position feedback to vary the pump's swash plate angle -- and thus output flow -- in direct proportion to an external electrical command signal (typically ±10 V, 4-20 mA, or PWM via an external amplifier). It provides no pressure limiting function; system pressure is load‑determined. A separate relief valve is required for over‑pressure protection.
2. What is the difference between EO1 and EO2 control?
Both are electric proportional displacement controls. Key difference is pilot pressure requirement:
EO1: Min. pilot pressure ≈ 20 bar (Sizes 40-250), suitable for Size 250 and smaller.
EO2: Min. pilot pressure ≈ 50-100 bar (Sizes 40-1000), typically specified for larger frames (Size 355/500+) or where higher control stiffness is needed.
For A4VSO250, EO1 is the standard electro‑proportional option.
3. Can I mount a second pump on the back?
Yes. The PPB code indicates through‑drive capability. An A4VSO (same or smaller size) or compatible gear pump can be flange‑mounted on the rear to form a tandem pump. N00 = no auxiliary gear pump pre‑fitted, through‑drive shaft is present.
4. What are critical installation points?
Case Drain (Leakage Line): Plumb directly to tank, backpressure ≤ 1.5-2 bar. Never tee into main return.
Suction Line: Keep short & large‑diameter; absolute inlet pressure ≥ 0.8 bar to avoid cavitation. Use 100 µm suction strainer.
Pilot Pressure (EO1): Supply pilot oil (typically from pump outlet or separate source) at ≥ 20 bar to the EO1 pilot port.
Rotation Check: "L" = counter‑clockwise from shaft end -- verify prime mover direction before coupling.
Bleed: Fill case and suction with oil, vent before first start‑up.
5. Does EO1 need a separate amplifier?
Yes. The pump has the solenoid and LVDT onboard but requires an external proportional amplifier (e.g. Rexroth VT 5035‑1X or PLC analog output card with current‑controlled driver) to supply the command signal and 24 V DC excitation. Amplifier is ordered separately.
6. Is a system relief valve still required?
Yes, absolutely. EO1 controls flow/displacement only -- it does not limit pressure. Install a properly sized system safety relief valve (e.g. DB type) set above maximum working pressure + margin.
7. What oil cleanliness is required?
Maintain hydraulic oil at ISO 4406 18/16/13 (NAS 1638 Class 8 -9) minimum using a return‑line filter β₁₀ ≥ 200 (10 µm nominal). Contamination is the primary cause of premature A4VSO pump wear.
