National Instruments PXIe-1486 FlexRIO FPD-Link™ Interface Module
The National Instruments PXIe-1486 (Part Numbers: 788712-01, 787453-01, 787454-01, 787455-01) is a FlexRIO FPD-Link™ Interface Module. For vision and imaging applications that have a high-throughput, the PXIe-1486 integrates the FPD-Link (Flat Panel Display-Link) interface from Texas Instruments with the Xilinx FPGA. The PXIe-1486 is perfect for uses that include hardware-in-the-loop, lab-based playback, or in-vehicle data logging. The PXIe-1486 Interface Module is especially suited for the automotive industry, offering a high speed digital interface in order to employ and test contemporary advanced driver assistance systems and testing video sensors and electronic control units for autonomous driving applications.
The PXIe-1486 is available in a couple different variations; part number 787453-01 is an 8 input deserializer, part number 787455-01 is an 8 output serializer, and part number 787454-01 has 4 input deserializers as well as 4 output serializers. These part numbers do have similarities- they each have 4-lane CSI-2 interfaces with 800 Mbps per lane. They do not allow for lane swaps or inversions. The different part numbers of the PXIe-1486 each use GPIO, CSI-2, and 12C for their communication.
The PXIe-1486 requires a chassis that has a slot cooling capacity greater than or equal to 58 W. Both the serial input and serial output channels of the PXIe-1486 use a coaxial FAKRA Male Code Z connector. They both have a maximum data rate of 4.16 Gb/s, but differ in their reference clock speed. The reference clock speed of the serial input channels ranges from 23 MHz to 26 MHz, while the speed of the serial output channels ranges from 25 MHz to 104 MHz. The maximum current for the serial input channels of the PXIe-1486 is 400 mA / channel, while the max current for the serial output channels is double that at 800 mA / channel.
