The Olympus GF-UCT240-AL5 is a curvilinear (convex array) echoendoscope for EUS-guided procedures. Unlike radial scopes, the electronic convex transducer sits along the long axis of the insertion tube, so the needle path is visible in the same plane as the target — the design requirement for EUS-FNA and EUS-guided drainage. The 12.6 mm insertion tube with a 3.7 mm biopsy channel, 100° optical field of view and 55° direction of view give a clear endoscopic image alongside the ultrasound plane, while the narrow transducer radius improves passage through the upper GI tract.
Pair the scope with a compatible Olympus ultrasound center that supports electronic curvilinear scanning and Doppler. Leak testing before every case is essential on echoendoscopes, since the transducer and the elevator area are both exposed to fluid ingress. Clean the elevator and channel with the specified brush set, and follow the manufacturer's manual disinfection sequence exactly; residual debris around the elevator is the most frequent cause of scope downtime. Store hanging vertically in a ventilated cabinet.
Each scope is checked before dispatch for optics, angulation, insertion tube and bending section condition, elevator movement and ultrasound image output where a matching processor is available.
