A flexible endoscope is like a Swiss Army knife that is brilliantly designed into a compact device that includes a suction channel, light and image guides, irrigation channels, and biopsy channels capable of passing instruments through.
The Olympus BF-P150 is a slim flexible video bronchoscope with a 5.3 mm distal end and 5.4 mm insertion tube. The narrow insertion section follows the bronchial tree into segmental and subsegmental airways, while a 2.0 mm instrument channel still accommodates standard endobronchial accessories for sampling and intervention. A 120° field of view with 3-100 mm depth of field keeps the carina, mucosal surface and lesion margins in focus during inspection, and the scope is fully compatible with the Olympus CV-150 video processor.
Use a compatible Olympus CV-150 class processor and confirm the connector and light guide match before purchase. Bronchoscopes are exposed to high contamination loads, so manual cleaning of the channel and the distal optics must follow the manufacturer's protocol without shortcuts, followed by leak testing before every case. Store the scope hanging vertically in a ventilated cabinet, with the insertion tube uncoiled so the bending section does not take a set.
Each scope is checked before dispatch for optics, angulation, channel patency and insertion tube integrity; image verification is performed where a compatible processor is available.
