The water sample is digested with acid, then mixed with a conditioning agent and oxidized with an oxidizing agent. Under alkaline conditions and in the presence of an indicator, zinc ions react with the indicator to form a colored complex. The analyzer detects this color change, converts the variation into a zinc concentration value, and outputs the result. The amount of colored complex formed corresponds to the total zinc content in the sample.
