Oxygen-based laundry boosters and whiteners are concentrated, high-activity powder or tablet products that release significant volumes of oxygen gas during storage. Unlike liquid bleaches, these dry products are often packaged in wide-mouth jars or large canisters. As the product slowly reacts with ambient moisture trapped in the container headspace, it generates oxygen. In an unvented container, this pressure accumulates, causing the container walls to bulge, the lid to dome upward, and—in severe cases—the lid to pop off during transport or on the retail shelf. This not only spills the product but also creates a safety hazard. Additionally, these products are highly sensitive to external moisture, which prematurely triggers the oxygen release reaction and reduces the product's whitening power.
