ASME Pipe Ultrasonic Calibration Block for NDT Testing
Overview
The ASME Pipe Calibration Block is a professional non-destructive testing (NDT) reference standard, specially designed and manufactured in strict accordance with ASME BPVC-V-2019 (American Society of Mechanical Engineers Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code, Section V). It is mainly used for calibration, verification and performance testing of ultrasonic testing (UT) equipment in pipe and pipe weld inspection, ensuring the accuracy, reliability and comparability of testing results, and is widely applied in industries such as oil & gas, petrochemical, power generation and water treatment.

Standard Compliance: Fully conforms to ASME BPVC-V-2019 Section 4 (Article 4, Paragraphs T-434.1.7 and T-434.3), meeting the strict requirements of international NDT standards for pipe calibration blocks, and ensuring compliance with industry inspection specifications.
Precise Processing: Adopts high-precision processing technology (such as EDM for groove processing) with strict control of dimensional tolerance, surface finish and defect size. The surface is sandblasted to simulate the actual inspection surface texture, avoiding deviations caused by processing errors.
Material Matching: Made of materials with acoustic properties similar to actual pipelines (such as carbon steel, alloy steel), ensuring that the propagation characteristics of ultrasonic waves in the test block are consistent with the actual tested pipelines, and improving the accuracy of calibration results.
Curvature & Thickness Adaptability: According to ASME specifications, curved blocks are used for pipes with diameter ≤20 inches (500mm), and flat blocks for pipes with diameter >20 inches; the thickness of the test block is within 25% of the pipe thickness, covering a variety of pipe specifications and meeting different inspection needs.
Multi-functional Application: It can not only calibrate the key parameters (gain, acoustic time, amplitude) of UT equipment, but also evaluate the effectiveness of testing methods, and can be used for training and assessment of NDT operators.

Product Structure
The ASME Pipe Calibration Block is divided into two main types according to ASME BPVC-V-2019 Article 4, Paragraph T-434.3, meeting different inspection scenarios:
Type 1 (Option 1): Curved block with a specified thickness, with 4 notches on the inner and outer surfaces, oriented in axial and circumferential directions, suitable for basic pipe weld calibration.
Type 2 (Option 2): Based on Type 1, additional side-drilled holes are added, whose size and position are determined by the block thickness, suitable for more precise UT equipment calibration and defect simulation.
The block length is the larger value of 200mm or 8 times the nominal wall thickness (t); when the inner diameter of the pipe is ≤100mm, the minimum arc angle of the curved block is 270°; when the inner diameter is >100mm, the minimum arc length is the larger value of 200mm or 3 times the wall thickness (t).
