How Starter Motors Work
When the engine is activated (via button or key), an electrical signal is sent to the starter solenoid. This component transfers power from the battery to the starter motor, which engages the starter drive (Bendix gear) with the vehicle's flywheel. The motor turns the engine to initiate combustion. Once running, the mechanism disengages the starter from the flywheel as the engine becomes self-sustaining.
