Manual Starters Overview
Manual starters are simple, user-operated devices featuring a button or rotary knob that controls connected equipment. These starters use mechanical linkages to open or close contacts, starting or stopping the motor. Note that manual starters don't break control circuits during power loss, potentially allowing automatic motor restart when power returns - an important safety consideration for certain appliions.

Starter Motor Operation
When the engine is activated (via stop/start button or traditional key), an electrical signal is sent to the starter solenoid. This component transfers power from the vehicle's battery to the starter motor, activating both the motor and the starter drive (Bendix gear system). The engaged starter motor turns the engine's flywheel, initiating the combustion process in petrol and diesel engines. Once the engine is running, the mechanism disengages the starter motor from the flywheel as external electrical assistance is no longer required.
