Note: Manual starters do not break control circuits during power loss, which may cause automatic motor restart when voltage is restored - an important safety consideration for certain appliions.
How Starter Motors Work
When the engine is activated (via stop/start button or traditional key), an electrical signal is sent to the starter solenoid. This component transfers charge from the vehicle's battery to the starter motor, activating it along with the starter drive (Bendix gear system).
The starter motor turns and cranks the engine via the flywheel, initiating combustion in petrol and diesel engines. Once the engine is running, the mechanism disengages the starter motor from the gear and flywheel as external electrical assistance is no longer required.
