Manual starters are simple, manually-operated devices designed for easy operation without requiring expert intervention. These starters feature a button or rotary knob that controls the opening and closing of contacts through mechanical linkages, enabling motor start/stop functions.

Starter Motor Operation
When the engine is activated (via stop/start button or traditional key), an electrical signal is sent to the starter solenoid. This component directs power from the vehicle's battery to the starter motor, activating both the motor and the starter drive (Bendix gear system).
The starter motor engages the vehicle's flywheel, cranking the engine to initiate the combustion process in petrol and diesel engines. Once the engine is running independently, the mechanism disengages the starter motor from the gear and flywheel.
