Cylinder liner in engine
A cylinder liner is a cylindrical part to be fitted into an engine block to form a cylinder. It is one of the most important functional parts to make up the interior of an engine. This is called Cylinder liner in Japan, but some countries(or companies) call this Cylinder sleeve.
How does a cylinder liner work?
A cylinder liner provides a smooth sliding surface that allows the reciprocating motion of a piston. The friction resistance offered by the inner walls of the liner is negligible; this allows the piston rings to slide over the inner walls of the liner.
Why use cylinder liner?
The cylinder liner prevents compressed gas and combustion gas from escaping. All that is needed is a cylinder liner that is difficult to replace with the high pressure and high temperature in the cylinder.

How do you know if your cylinder liner is bad?
Check the cylinder liner for cracks, freeting or scoring. If any crack, fretting or scoring is detected, the cylinder must be replaced with a new one. If this is not the case, continue looking for cavitation erosion on the liner. Erosion results from poor cooling system maintenance.
